You play as Justin Case, the owner and only employee at Oddjobs Inc. People usually come to you with rather odd problems that require daring and ingenious solutions.

This time you've been asked by sweet old Mrs. Rose to rescue her son from the insidious (and moronic) Cult of the Almond. You will have to go under cover and pretend to be one of those nutjobs to reunite her with her son.

hello! i'm stuck  in the room where i must understand the language to find to door code. this is what i have so far with the language, and am super stuck. any hints?

i don't know how to do spoilers, so spacing down a bunch!

You pretty much solved it!

Big Spoiler! The first time the guy on the right talks to you, he asks you to give unmar oranges in exchange for finmar apples. So if you count the total number of oranges that you gave him, you'll get unmar = 8. And then unpol = 0 by elimination.

Thanks for playing!

I finally got around to playing this, and I liked it a lot! Fun story, wacky characters and crazy, yet logical puzzles. I really liked the language puzzle! I'm looking forward to trying out the other games in this series, too. Thanks for a great game!

Edit: I played the jam version. The updates sound good, too.

Thank you so much for playing and the kind words! It really made my day! :)

These games are a lot of fun, I played the first two as well.

I'm stuck on this one though. I gave the 3rd abstainer several oranges (I have the number written down lmao) and then he gave me so many apples (also have that number written down)

But those are the only two numbers i've come across. I have given the middle abstainer a ton of strawberries, and not getting any results like I did with the oranges for the other guy.... And then the first guy wants nothing from me. I don't know what I'm missing lol

Any help is appreciated!

I thought I had figured it out, but unpol doesn't show up in conversation, and so i tried just eliminating, and that didn't work for me.... I need to go to bed, but reeeeaaaalllly don't want to start over Lmao

(1 edit)

The game saves your progress so you don’t need to worry about that.

spoiler You can actually figure out unpol's meaning by elimination. Are you sure you got all the other numbers?
(+2)

I thought that I did, and did it a few times, getting the same numbers XD But no matter what number I put for unpol, it wouldn't work...

I'm super happy it saves haha, now back to it XD

thank you for replying back with hints and what not btw!

Wow, I’m so happy you’re enjoying these games! Thank you so much for playing them all!

There is a way to get all the numbers but you’ll need to understand Almondish first. Every word they say has a meaning, and you can deduce it by their reactions to different objects that you give them. Also pay attention to any overlap in words being said by different people.

hint 1 The left-most guy is trying to introduce himself and say hi. You can figure out what the words Min and Du mean. This guy doesn't want anything from you.
hint 2 The middle guy is asking you for something and he refuses to accept anything else. You can figure out what all the items in your inventory are called in Almondish and the meaning of the word Pak, Hunna and Po.
hint 3 The right-most guy wants to trade. You might deduce numbers from here.

So, I figured out what each one was basically meaning with their words, and thought I had the numbers figured out (did it again, to see if maybe I was just tired last night)

Here's what I got:

(I don't know how to do spoilers or what not, so just spacing down low enough haha)

Finmar = 8

Unpol = ?

Colma = 3

Dadar = 7

Am I anywhere close to the correct numbers?? Lmao

Oh I think I understand exactly how you’re getting the above numbers and I think a lot of other players may be having the same problem too.

Almondish is kind of a bare-bones language and you may run into trouble if you try to add proper English grammar to your translation.

Every word has exactly one meaning so when translating, you should use exactly the same interpretation everywhere.

BIG SPOILER If you think pak means "gave" then every instance of the word pak must mean "gave" (and not any other form of the word). Try finding a word for pak that fits all 3 instances well.

Hope this helps!

I'm having trouble with the Almond language bit, i thought I had figured out what the code was but I was incorrect.

Hi, can I ask what code you got? It’ll help me point you in the right direction.

Hint The counting can be a bit tricky, maybe try it again?

Edit: I’m so sorry, I accidentally deleted both your comments. I was trying to remove the one with the spoilers but the one below it got deleted as well. :(

Again, thank you so much for playing and it really means a lot to me that you enjoyed it!

Cool game, but I'm stuck at the end. How do I get rid of the two brothers to be alone with Brother Rose?

(+1)
spoiler Justin needs to understand why it's Brother Pearce that's going to turn off the alarm. You'll need to overhear their conversation at the right moment.

Thanks for playing! :)

Solved it! Great and funny game! I like the name of the protagonist!

Thanks so much! :)

do you draw the art yourself?

Hi, yes, I made everything except the music and sound effects.

(+1)

the art is awsome!

Thanks, I’m glad you like it!

This is fun :) I really enjoyed it until I got stuck. I was weighed twice, I guess. Now I have 3 paperweights and a slit in the body-suit. Tried on the web and downloaded version with the same result.

Anyway, I like humor and appreciate the style and music!

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing and the kind words, really means a lot!

Sorry about any confusion because of the comments below. The bug around this puzzle has been fixed so you don’t have to try playing it on different versions. Both the web and downloadable versions have been updated.

Hint for the puzzle in case you're still interested You have to make your body-suit bigger so maybe you can find something to stuff it with. You need to find more stuffing material.
(+1)

All right! I'll give it another try ;)

Cool game, strong storyline and unique and pleasing graphic style. Nice work!

Thanks! I really appreciate it! :)

very good

Thank you! :)

Very fun game so far, but unfortunately I'm stuck. I have my suit, slit an opening, but can't seem to put the VERY heavy thing into it.

Hi, thank you for playing!

I’m still fixing bugs and updating the game. How many times have you been weighed? Once or twice? If it’s only once, then I’m afraid it’s a game-breaking bug and you’ll have to play the updated version. So sorry about that.

If it’s twice, then:

spoilers You only have to make the suit look bigger. Having the weights in your inventory is enough to make you heavier.
(+1)

I have been weighted only once. All good, I will try and play again then

Are you playing it on the web version? Because unfortunately the save data for the downloadable version persists and the bug may still be there when you download the new version. I can help you change the saved data, if that’s the case.

Again, really sorry about this!

(+1)

Yes, I played the web version, but I downloaded the new version now and now it worked! Now I'm trying to figure out the code for the keypad hehe

Awesome! Hope you enjoy it! :)

Had the same problem but I restarded the game tried again till I got the sewed bodysuit and went back to oddjob inc opened my inventory right clicked the bodysuit, exited the inventory with the right clicked bodysuit after that the game teleportded me back to the cult and they weighed me again. Hope this helps.

The game’s been updated to fix the bug. When you restarted, if the game started from the beginning instead of your last save-point, then you must’ve played the updated version. Otherwise, I have no idea why this would fix it, haha!

(+1)

that must be it, that was fast.

(1 edit)

Haha, I’ve been trying to find and fix bugs all day before the jam deadline! Thanks for playing! :)
